I guess this is a question for Tom:

Do the modern locking and split-shaft tuning machines share the same screw positions and shaft diameter? I'm asking because I'm looking at a Cobra on ebay which has the split-shaft tuners, but if I got it I would want locking tuners, so wondered if they could drop right in without modification? If that is possible, then do you guys sell the locking tuners separately, and if so, how much would they be roughly? Many thanks in advance.

tuners of the same brand are interchangeable. if they say grover, they are grovers, and the locking grovers are no longer available. if they say nothing, they are gotoh, and that's what we use now. every manufacturer puts the mounting screw hole in a different place. sometimes i think they do it intentionally so manufacterers don't change brands. i'm at home so i don't have the prices in from of me, but we do sell them.

Yeah I failed to mention the guitar in question is a 2006 Cobra, so they'll be Gotohs. Many thanks for the info Tom.
