It is my understanding from a previous conversation that the single coil that was used in the neck position of the Rand guitars was built specifically for those instruments. I have recently added several Rands to my collection, all but one of which has had its pickups changed. I plan to return those to Anderson electronics (H2+ in bridge) but I'm not sure what to use in the neck. Can a replica of this pickup still be custom wound? If not, which of the current models would be the best replacement? Thanks!

some had the top coil only from a stack as the pickup hole was very shallow. if they have been changed, maybe the hole was made deeper. in any case, we could make new single coils if you need them.

That's great! I'll check the depth and get back to you.

Ok, I finally got around to checking this out. It looks to me like the single coil routes in the guitars that I want to restore to Anderson electronics all have deep enough routes to accomodate a normal Anderson S/SA pickup. The factory paint is still visable at the bottom of the route. The pickups that are in the 3 spots to be changed are a Duncan Hotrails, a Dunacan Duckbucker, and an EMG SA.

That said, the route in my 2 unmolested Rands appears to be the same depth...I can email you some pics if you like.

Which Anderson would get me the closest to the tone of the originals (which I love)? Or should I do a custom pickup to get there?
