I know it's a strange question, but i am very curious to know what did you intend that will be the "default" option in yours single coil pickups (I have SA1R & SA1)?
I mean: the switch (Switcheroo system) down (serial) or the switch up (split)?
It's hard to compare because the volume difference...
i think the whole point of the switcheroo is giving you options, thee is no default. it was invented back in the late 80's when racks and high gain amps were king, and humcancelling was a must. back then the default was seris and parallel. as true single coil tones came back in fashion we started offering series split. in the early 90's, the switcheroo with the ability to change internally from split to parallel became standard. the options are there so that the player can choose. volume is a very deceiving thing. i've lots of comparing, and to me the series sound is closer to the vintage tone than the split stack, but the louder split sound grabs you more. try comparing the series sound matching the volume to the split sound and see what the volume difference does. i used a hot plate, and listened to the split at -4 db, then listened to the series at -0. it might surprise you.

thanks very much for the very detailed answer!
I'll try to compare the two modes according to yours suggestion.
