As a brand spanking new owner of a TAG I immediatley went to the Anderson website, (completely ignoring the pile of work on my desk that needed to be done before leaving on vacation.....I am writing this on a laptop and staring out over beautiful Possum Kingdom lake in North Texas), and looked up my serial #. 10-11-06A. It seems that quilted maple on swamp ash is a rare combination and that seems curious to me. The guitar is pretty well the perfect embodiment of what I always said would be my perfect guitar although a little grittier with the neck pickup than I expected. Other than that it is spanky where I want it to be and warm and full where I want it to be. Wonder how come nobody else ordered this combination. Anything I should be aware of?

ash tends to be more scooped in the mids than alder or basswood, and the addition of the maple top goes that same direction so that might scare some people. having humbuckers in yours helps that from getting out of control.

thanks for the answer tom. I am assuming since you are the supreme commander of the anderson empire that you are indeed the tom anderson whose name adorns the headstock of my new baby. wow. leo fender never responded to any questions i had about my strats. Nor has bob taylor, or les paul for that matter. Since i do not speak japanese the ibanez folks didn't count. How freakin cool is this!!!!!!!!

that would be me. and by the way i did not choose the title near my name. i started coming here just to make sure the facts were correct and have come to make it part of my day because i enjoy the community. there's always more to learn, and lots of people here have given great advise for different playing situations.

tom,
can't thank you enough for the attention to detail on the instrument. i once wrote down a list of things that i would include on what would be the perfect axe for me. when i saw this one hanging on the wall in larry morgan music in garland, it was if someone found and filled my order about as perfectly as could be done. the only thing i haven't really had a chance to go into yet is the five way switching on a two humbucker guitar. each position has a very different color to the tone but i lose a significant amount of volume at positions two and four. in the middle position i can pull out the tone knob and get a killer strat tone. what happens at two and four?

dannopelli,

yes sir, i can't wait to get back from vacation (?????) and get back to the TAG and get some pics to post. ( we are camping out this week so i brought the taylor and my son brought his ovation, great for the kumbaya gig).

thanks guys,

brad allen.........actually the road king is my harley, i haven't done any real road work since the mid 80s.
