Describe Alder with a Maple Top

What does this sound like? I know a lot of Anderson Drop Tops use this combo. Is it overly bright? Thanks.

Not really. Anderson seems to have figured out the right pickup and wood combination to do this. I love alder but I have really been smitten with the Maple cap on Basswood combination that Anderson has. It seems to be a little more....transparent or something. I hate trying to use visual words for audio concepts. :(

A respected luthier once told me that basswood is a very tonally nuetral wood. He claimed that the tone of basswood based guitars is grive primarily by the pickups. He also explained to me that the resonant frequency of basswood conicides perfectly with the resonant frequency of humbucking pickups.
