Woah, quilty :)
Isn't the guitar a bit bright having a solid maple body?

LOVE the neck - the lack of fret markers makes for a cool look.

wow! first off - what a beautiful body:D :D :p
the top and back are smoking hot.
how bright does she sound? (given she's got a solid maple body)?
believe it or not, we had some bodies back then that were not as heavy as alder. they actually sounded pretty darn warm. doug up at boogie has one like that and it's a great sounding guitar...or was that doug's? i just noticed the behind the nut clamp.

I remember talking with Mr. West, and he had said that the neck on the blue bodied TAG (the one he uses with Randy to test amps) was something like a 0.02" undersized?  (and you thought I was bad!;) )

Wow....killer guitar!
I've got a solid maple Hamer Cali...it's not as heavy as you'd think:

we affectionately call doug's necks"wafers".

In my experience, I have not found all maple guitars to be overly bright. I recently played a 7-String Carvin made of all Birdseye Maple with a Floyd, which should have been an extremely bright guitar, but it had a really nice range on it. No ice-pick to the brain either!

hmmmm......me thinks that a maple body should be on my GAS list! (as long as I can get something that looks as the pix on this thread!)
I wonder if a solid maple body's something that the shop is still doing? Supreme Commander? (along with a Floyd rose bridge and maple wafer neck.... :) )
i haven't bought any giant pieces of maple for a long time. the price is pretty crazy now, and getting a piece that big with great figure is chancy. i have some old stuff but i don't think any of it is current great grade.

I would be willing to bet that pickup choice could make a big difference. Some of the single-coils I've heard combined with all Maple might make your head explode. Jon Kammerer has been building all Maple guitars for awhile and combines them with both humbuckers and single-coils. While I've never played one of his guitars, they seem to get favorable tone reviews.

There's also a difference between western maple and eastern maple.
Western is much lighter in weight, while eastern is heavier and denser.
There's a big problem with poaching of maple around the Pacific NW now, with people looking for figured wood to sell for quick $$$.
Here's an article:http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003710429_maple17m.html
great article. it is a shame, but when something gets so over valued abuses happen. i'd be ok if nobody wanted figured maple. any takers? no ...seriously.
