Hi guys!!

This is my first post and my second day as a member! Please forgive me if this is a topic that has been covered in the past.

I have a 2000 DT classic (05-05-00P) and this thing is incredible in all areas. Absolutely beautiful and one of the best sounding electric instruments I have heard. My only issue is that there is some snap, crackle and pop when I turn the volume knob. These sounds are confined to the lower volume setting.

Any insight to a solution?

Jason

Jason,

It's normal IF you are turning the pots WITHOUT touching anything else on the guitar at the same time ie. the bridge or strings.

If you ARE touching the strings (grounding the guitar) and you still experience noise while turning the pots then the pots are in fact dirty and can be cleaned by someone that knows how to do this.

Thanks Bruce...

Yeah this seems like a dirty pot. I may be able to do this myself....

deoxit spray is great. if you can't find that, radio shack tuner cleaner works too.

Thanks Tom!! will the pot have to be removed from the pick guard?

I've used some of the RadioShack stuff on my guitars and it works just fine. Spray a decent amount on the pot, then roll it back and forth for about a minute. Take as directed. Reapply as necessary.

cool... did you have to take the pot out? or did you spray from above?

you can probably reach it from the little switch plate hole in the back.just remove the two screws. spray liberally into the area above the contact lugs.
