Here's what the Ron had to say.
Here it is, the official debut of the "Soft Top".
Phil had asked about doing an arm contour on his Standard many moons ago. I didn't think that would look very good on the body shape so we came up with this alternative - the Soft Top.
The top features a 50" Radius arc across it, similar to a fretboard. The result is an incredibly comfortable body your arm just drapes over into playing position. Couple that to the ALL satin finish and this guitar is like snuggling up to a security blanket...I want to hold it and pet it and.
Here we go: Soft Top action!:

Quick Specs:
Thorn Artisan Standard #154 ~ Soft Top
Body and neck: Black Limba
Fretboard and Headcap: Brazilian Rosewood
Bridge: Thorn Hardtail
Pickups: Wagner Valkyries
Nut: 50/50 Nickel Silver/BRW
Inlay: Sterling Silver outlined abalone
Purfling: Sterling Silver
Pickup Rings: BRW
Color: Natural Satin
BRW Heel Cap inlay: Shad Fish
I described the comfort level above, the all satin finish makes it feel "soft"...but the Tone is where it's at!
I have missed these pickups. It's been awhile since I've played them and it all came back to why I dig them so much.
The neck pickup is so smooth and warm that it just makes you want to strum. The #2 position on the switch is my favorite "both coils in the neck pickup in parallel" (thanks Matt I. ), and it produces the perfect clean hum-free tones.
Then there is Mr. Hyde...the bridge pickup. Punch, grind, and meat. When you flick back there...be ready to dig in.
I'm speechless, Ron takes your ideas and executes them beyond your wildest imagination!
I have nothing more to say at the moment.
