I got my first chip in the finish of my Drop Top Classic   :(

I happend when I bumped it with another guitar. The chip is right on the edge in the binding. It is very hard to see but it is right where my right forearm rest when I am playing, which worries me because I think that my arm rubbing on it might cause it to spread. Does anyone know how I can seal this spot to keep it from getting bigger?

here it is in a pre-chip photo.

Nope. Can't do anything about it, the guitar is ruined. Send me and e-mail and I'll do you the favor and buy it cheap. :)

If you post a pic of the "chip" you might get a more suited response.

apply thin super glue with a toothpick so as not to get too much on there. it should wick into the crack and glue any loose pieces in place.

I dont think puss'nboots is skipping any meals ! What are you feeding that cat ? If its anything like the one we had you are just her staff anyhow . Ours was 20 years old when she died in January . We miss her like crazy . Oh, we like dogs as well , Tom .

Actually it was my Martins fault.

That cat is a 6 year old male named Slinky (named by my 3 year old son (at the time)), we got two kittens (boy and a girl twins) and my daughter named the girl and my son named the boy. My son was playing with a slinky toy at the time he got the inspiration. He is a very nice cat and he never causes any trouble, unlike his sister. He is actually not fat, but he does weigh 20 lbs. He is huge when you see him in person compaired to his normal sized sister.

BTW, I tried the thin ACC and it worked like a charm.

Chips and gashes are marks of distinction. Nothing like a guitar that is used to play music. I buy guitars to keep 'em, the only one, besides my TAG which still has not a scratch --knock on wood--, that doesn't have any marks on it is my very cheapest... a 90s Danelectro reissue that I never care about whether or not it gets a nick... and it doesn't have a scratch or a nick on it. That is funny. (It also doesn't get played much.)

The guitar I've played the most in the last 10 years, my US Masters Strat, has a handful of great character marks on it. Not a relic by any stretch, but not immaculate either... And I've played it so much I'm getting set to get it refretted soon (in SS no doubt) or at the very least re-dressed.

Dings, scratches, marks, buckle rash... EMBRACE IT!
