Thanks for that picture, I showed my wife and it has made her feel better. Now I just have to figure out how I can catch up.

Sure! I really struggle over whether that or the Cobra is my favorite Andy:

Here's a few:

I know the feeling! Actually there were more! But I am letting a bunch go. I just have no need for all that. There'll be a flurry of Ebay activity soon. The ones in this post are the keepers.

Your Drop Top Classic with the M's is close to what I'm wanting to get. I'm not sure whether I want a maple or rosewood fingerboard.

But I'm wondering if you could give me your impression of the differences between your classic and your other Strats.

Cheers,
David

Well it is an alder body, maple 1 5/8 .50 oversize. I replaced the VA1-2's with VA2-VA2R-VA3. And it used to belong to Casper.

The Strat's pictured are two 60's and one 58, all stock Custom Shop models. The 60's have Texas Specials, as is typical. I think the 58 does too, but I am not sure. It really sounds like a blend of those, due to the neck and body wood combination and the pickups. I recently sold a 56 CS, with fat 50's. It kind of sounds like that.

From a "feel" perspective, obviously the Andy neck is flatter and easier to play. The 58 has a flatter radius than the 60's but not the 12" radius that Tom's guitars sport. Weighs in about a few ounces north of seven pounds, as all my Strats do. And it plays and stays in tune far better. Finally there is the Buzz Feiten difference.

Come to think of it, I have another 60's CS Strat that is a bit beat up due to being dropped. I use it for theose, "nasty club" gigs. It has Lindy's with a Bass Plate in the bridge. Even though that has a rosewood fretboard, both sound similar. The feel differences still exist.

It does sound the most "authentic" of all the strat type Andy's I have had. I am not big on modern sounding and feeing Fender guitars. I like the vintage sound. And until that guitar came along I did not own that sound in an Andy.

My opinion is if you want a modern Strat get an Andy becasue they play and sound so much better. It is just a personal preference thing. For great tone and versatility, and superior quality, I stick to the Andy's 100% of the time. Wish Tom made a Jazz Box! But it is hard to beat a good pick of the litter Fender CS Time Machine for accuracy to the true vintage Strats.

Like I said I prefer in Fender's the vintage sound and feel. This particular Andy gives me the best of both worlds!

Dern Right it used to belong to me. Im such a fool sometimes! I was in my DT phase and didn't realize what I had. I made the same mistake with my first Andy. I really regret getting rid of that Classic especially now with my new rig. Danno, I want first dibs if you decide to sell or trade it. Nice family photo, hope you are well;) Did you get rid of Candy?

Yes I sold it to some guy in FL. He sold it a week later for something like $400less than he paid me. With the fees hit he probaly lost nearly $600 on that transaction!

That was a GREAT guitar. But as you know from the pics above, I have far more than depicted, and am soon selling off quite a few. What is listed above is for the most part what I am keeping.

How's Shaun?

Here was that cheesy Photoshop one of mine from a few years back. It was before I knew the magic of TA Guitars.

The only ones remaining are the '80 LP Artisan and Private Stock 98. I need to get a new harem shot (and update my avatar!).

Yes. I'll basically next week take a group pic similar to the one here, and list them on the for sale section.

M's are GREAT PUPS. Not like the old Gibson mini hums. They are very much a single coil sound, but with humbucking characteritics. Bolder than a stacked sincle. Just outstanding.

But remember this is an alder body guitar with a maple cap and maple neck. So it is more powerful with a bit more snap. Warmer all around too. Sounds like a modern guitar. It is far more balanced and controlled. So it is not as twangy in the bridge.

Hope this helps.
