Hey Folks,

Imagine your getting your first TAG and you want to play it through something good enough that the great pickups in your guitar are not wasted.

You are not concerned with clubbing with the amp you are just looking more for proper tone than volume.

I considered the Marshall AVT 20 Valvestate Amplifier because it has a DI and a headphone jack... Is this a good fit?

What would be your under $500 choice and the over $500 choice?

I plan to use Logic in my home studio, with a MOTU Ultralight and Behringer Truth Monitors... as you can see I am not adverse to saving money!:o ;)

Under $500 would be a used/EBAY Fender Blues Deluxe. Figure about $435.

Over $500 would a used/EBAY DR Z Maz 38. Figure about $1100. Try to find one with 2x10 and an FX loop.

I got a Mesa Subway Rocket that has been my main studio amp until I got the F-30 and Lonestar Special Special. I am parting with the Subway, which is decked out in Hunter Green leather with a gold grille, for $250. E-mail me at stys207@wowway.com for pics if interested.

Got to agree about the F 30. It is a pretty good over $500 amp too. Be sure to get one with the V30 speaker. Too sterile with the Black Shadow. The reverb sucks when compared to the Lonestar. But it is a good amp that has come in handy for me a few times.

If you want a small Mesa the Lonestar special, IMHO is the best bet.

I love my lonestar, but it's going to cast you a bit for one of them, but if you can swing it, it's really topnotch. For a bit cheaper, I'd recommend a rivera R30 or r55. You can find 'em around for $500.
Hope this helps, an anderson really can sound good through just about anything, I've used a lot of sub standard amps at different gigs, but my TA always sounds like itself.

I put my F-30 through a Mesa 1x12 Thiele cabinet. Need to try the Bogner Cube but, I sorta like my stuff to match. Call me crazy.

+1 on the Blues Junior. The only amp I've ever owned that I kept.

Under $500 Find a used DRRI

Over $500 Find a used Lonestar Special. It's the amp that was used at the TAG booth at the NAMM show.
