Anybody have a good source for a quality stereo (TRS) to split (2 1/4 inch mono) instrument cable to use with a crowdster plus? I'm hoping for 12-15 feet. Thanks...

Bob,

You can look for a "Horizon HYS-P 1/4 Inch Insert Cable". I got an 18-foot one for my C+. Works great.

Magdon may sell something like it, since they sponsor this form and are such great guys, try them first. If not, try google.

I have researched this quite a bit and am about ready to order a Lyric HG.

i have not been a fancy cable guy, but i recently got a lava cable and did some listening. the difference was noticable, and you just need to decide if it's a "better" thing. i have always favored a bit of the darkness i got with my regular old rapco cable over the extra high end of the george L's. this lava was a pleasing difference for me. mark there at lava was very helpfull and sure seems to know his stuff.

I had my local rapco dealer special order three trs-trs cables of various lengths and also a small box to breakout the trs to tip out - ring out. Works great. They are not really excited to do such small orders but, your local dealer can do it .Took about 3 weeks, but sure gets it done.

I am not a big "expensive cable guy" either, but I'm tempted to check out something like one of these. Thanks guys.

Another not on the C+. Just my opinion (any other opinions out there are welcome) but my favorite acoustic playing is lighter to medium picking and a LOT of fingerstyle (think beginning of "everything glorious" for you crowder fans) and I found that putting 80/20 elixirs on instead of the phosphor bronze made a HUGE and wonderful difference. Probably more difference than a good cable would make. Try it! Especially if you do a lot of fingerstyle.

Also, although they don't have the 80/20 that I love... anybody else tried the Cleartone strings on this guitar? or any? They ROCK! I wish they made 80/20.

Just had Mark from Lava Cable make me a Lava ELC cable and the difference is pretty pronounced going from the Rapco and Spectraflexes that I was using, much more even through the whole bandwidth, which, with an Atom, is pretty wide :)

Awesome guy to work with as well.

I'm curious what effect the 80/20 had on the electric side of the C+? Did you notice a difference there?

On the acoustic, of course, there is a slightly "rounder" tone from the phosphor.

I noticed almost no difference on the Electric side. Perhaps the sound was just a teeny bit "less round" (if that makes any sense) when I put the 80/20s on, but I liked that too. But no really significant difference in tone, electrically, I'd say. I wanted to try the DR Zebras on there, but they don't last very long, and Tom says that he has had some challenges getting DRs to intonate properly. I've been trying them on my Godins, and am getting set to move back to Elixers.

However, I RARELY use ONLY the electric side of the C+. In fact, more and more, I dial in at least a little of the acoustic side with any of my stereo guitars, C+ and two Godins. I'm just about to change out the Wilkinson in my US Masters for a Wilkinson Powerbridge and I will no longer have ANY "one-voice" electric guitars. It's become a big part of my sound, especially when I am the main or only guitarist playing. That little bit of clarity sounds really cool, even over a totally shredded out tone, which I also rarely use.
