M series with SD1??

Hello,

I'm new to the forum but I've been an Anderson owner for 2yrs. There's none better. So I got another one one the way and I really want to have a mini-hum/SD1/Humbucker config (from neck to bridge). I've used this format before on a 25.5 scale guitar and I think it's great. Can I get some input from you guys about having an m series in the neck with an SD1 in the middle?

I've read here that the M1 is really single coil sounding. I want a real mini-hum sound though, some of the beef of a full hum (minus the boom) with some of the articulation of a single coil. Does that sound more like an M2 or M1? Is the M2 too hot to be mixed with an SD1 in the middle? I'll use whichever M series will give me the right balance with the SD1.

the m1 is a mighty big sounding single coil tone. the m2 is a wider spacing and is made for bridge position. the m1 mixes nicely with the sa or sd in the middle, a more convincing combo sound than 2 m's to me.

i had the M1 and a SD1 together once. i thought they worked really well together. but the M1 sounds closer to a single than a mini-hum.

Hey Jujo, I don't know what guitar you're thinking of doing this to, but I sold the Hollow T my M1 was in and the buyer wanted the HB back in the neck so I have a pearloid tele guard cut for M1 neck and single middle which is loaded with an M1 (the middle position is empty). Does TAG use swimming pool routing on the guitars with pickguards? I never opened up my classic to see. If so Rhys, I may be interested in your offer. I might appreciated being able to switch the guitar from mini hum to single coil a couple times a year. Can anyone confirm that the routing allows for switching pickup sizes just by switching pickgaurds?
