Hi and a happy new year to you all,
Can anyone tell me when the heastock change came in? I was looking at a grand am lam feature in a guitar magazine in the UK recently, and i am in the process of buying a hollow T "grand am lam" from Sean ( thanks buddy) and it has the current headstock even though it has a 1990 date of manufacture??
Anyone...

i'm pretty sure 1990 was the new one, but our change overs are never a hard date, there is always some overlap.

When did you stop making the Fender styled headstocks? Were they ever available on complete guitars, or just in replacement parts form?

we stopped selling necks in 1990. the fender shape was never on our guitars. there were a couple guitars i made in my garage that had the fender shape.

My June 1990 Hollow-T has the original headstock shape.I also made contact with a guy here that had a July 90 with the original headstock. So I'm guessing late 1990 was the changeover. When Tom checked the database he found that my one was the second Hollow T made and thought that only 30 T's existed with the original shape......only 10 of which were hollow,as the rest were solidbodied.
Paul Alcantara owns the one in the mag you're looking at replayboy.....that was the first T Anderson into the Uk and was sold by my good friend Doug Chandler....it was also the actual Anderson 'T' reviewed in the early 1990 issue of Guitarist mag and also pic'd in the 1990 Anderson catalog(ps I have first refusal on her!!)!Hope that info helps.
Nice guitar BTW you have heading across the pond.I have a pic of the identical guitar but with an original headstock in my collection.....belongs to a guy on the Gear Page forum. If you don't like her and need to sell PM me!!!I'm only 30 miles from ya!!

Here's my girl(would only swap for that lovely blackguard T claasic in the first Anderson catalog BTW!).......

I have had 5 Andersons, with the hollow T classic in the for sale pages on the way, (thanks to Sean) and a hollow drop top T classic in light tigers eye burst on the way in March ! :D

+! re. soundsgreat - I ordered some new kit from them and it was delivered to me in Germany in only 2 days (and that during the Christmas/NY holidays)! Their staff are excellent!

No,I'm near Preston.....not a Manc!
I'm afraid this is the only Andy I have.My collection is mainly Custom Shop Fenders and PRS.I have had loads of Andys in the past though.Looking for a nice blackguard T classic one maybe in the future....but can never find the right specs.Ideally I like a larger neck with smaller frets. Will keep searchin'.....thats half the fun! With the good news with production though I might custom order one as I haven't done that since 1996....but it did take 18 months to arrive!

.... Grand Am Lam Hollow T too. Mine also has the old headstock. The guitars I've seen after September of 1990 all have the new headstock. I've always wondered whether the "old headstock" guitars hold any special value to collectors and the like.......

I guess they will be worth more in years to come purely out of lack of numbers available.I wouldn't say they are a better guitar though. All TA's are equally superb.
