What's the darkest blue based Andy Color that is Translucent enough to show the wood?

I ordered a guitar in Atlantic Storm and don't want the back of the guitar (mahogany) to be the normal opaque black. I want it translucent enough to be able to see the the grain. I have a Deep Ocean Blue Drop Top that is alder backed and I can see the grain. Anything darker blues/greys that are translucent enough? The other thing to do is just go natural back past the binding. Any comments/ideas? Thanks!

is this a trick question;)
since mahogany is a redish color to start, any blue must be very dark to not be greenish. deep ocen is barely see through on mahogany. jacks blue(kind of redish blue) is a bit more see through.

IMHO, since Atlantic Storm is basically Trans Black with a hint of blue, why not do a Trans Black back?

again, since the wood is brown, by the time you cover the brown, you can't see through it.

When you say "barely see through" in regards to Deep Ocean Blue and Mahogany, would I be able to tell that it's mahogany by looking at it or is it sort of a maybe yes/maybe no kind of thing (depends on the wood that day ;) )?

If not, do you think a Jack's Blue Mahogany back would blend well with an Atlantic Storm Quilt Maple Top. I did see a Jack's Blue Quilt Maple Top Hollow Drop top with a natural back that looked dyn-o-mite but, that's not the same as Atlantic Storm.

This will be the 2nd time that I've ordered a custom guitar and with the 1st one (from another manufacturer), I'm living with some regret due to an option I should have bought instead the option I did (that cost the same). Don't want that to happen this time around.

blues can be tough to put together. atlantic storm is barely blue, so it can take some of the green from the black. jacks blue is on the redder side, so they could clash. you might want to do the nat back to be safe. you can see through deep ocean when you're up close and personal, but not from 10 feet away.

I think with Atlantic Storm, Black is the best back color, nice, solid Black!!
