Can anyone tell me about the VA5 series? I may have missed an answer here. But I am buying a new classic from Magdon - it has VA5 pups.

My classic, ash body/maple neck, has the VA12, VA12R and VA23.

Another one, alder body, rosewood neck, has VA1, VA!, and VA2.

The new one is alder body, rosewood neck, with VA5, VA5R, and VA5+.

Just wondering.........

What does SAC stand for? ....I feel so behind the times...

Strategic Air Command? Senate Appropriations Committee? Single Armrest Chair? Sexual Assault Center? Steep And Cheap? Swiss Alpine Club? Strict Access Criterion? Sectional Aeronautical Chart? Sales And Commission?

Stumped After Contemplation.

By the way, I realize that this is a hectic time at TAG, but can no one give us any brief feedback about the VA5 series of pups?

the va5 is a new version of the vintage pickup. we are playing with it and the new va booster. more will be revealed as we continue to play. so far it is a softer and sweeter sounding va. more to come.

I got the new WEDGIE today..........Thanks to Jack at Magdon. Yes the VA5 setup is pretty sweet. I have not have time to compare it to the others Classics. That will come. But for now, I have to say I really love the A-Wedge neck joint. It feels good and it looks good too.

Tom, Thanks yet again for making my day. Now........what next???

Okay, after few days at home, not on a gig, with the VA5 setup..... this is really amazing. in the "non-booster" position they are VERY vintage sounding. Then when you hit the switch they get very thick and hot.

It's hard to believe these 2 sounds are coming out of the same pickups. I can't wait to try it out on the gig this weekend.

Compared to my TA "Mary Kaye" with the VA12, VA12R, VA23 setup........I love that guitar but it is not as vintage sounding unswitched nor as hot when switched. So, I have to say the VA5 setup is an improvement for me.

I realize the guitars are different woods and fretboards are different too, but I know what I am talking about. After 41 years of playing, I think I can tell.

If you have not tried the VA5's you are missing out!

Great job Tom!!!

Well, I know you are going to be very happy with that T. I think the VA5 will match up very well with the TV3. In fact, the TV3 is my favorite TAG pickup. I hope you post your results when you get it.

I have played 3 gigs now with the new Classic. I am totally blown away by the sound of the VA5 setup. I am amazed at how vintage strat sounding it is in one position and the other position sounds almost like a humbucker.

I have went through a lot of guitars trying to find a single guitar that would cover all the bases on a gig. I am really tired of carrying more than one. This new Classic does it all and extremely well!!!

I plug it into my pedalboard which consists of: Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster (no longer needed), Strobostomp, Boss CS2, Timmy, Menatone King Of The Britains, Seymour Duncan Twin Tube, Boss PH1, Jacques Meisterstringer, Boss DM2..........then into my Vox AC30. There is nothing I can't play with this setup.

With the other TAG guitars, and Gibsons, and PRSi, I could always get a good sound, but not a good sound for all the types of music that I play on a 4 sets. This new TA Classic solved that problem.

I couldn't be happier with this guitar.........plus it looks GREAT!

It had been realy interesting to swap the SD`s on my DT with 2xVA5 instead!!
I wonder if they are matching the H2+ as well as the SD`s and will they work with the switcheroo, so you can flip the VA5 `s like I svitch my SD`s?

anyone knows?

they have a bit less output than the sd's, but they should work nicely. they can be connected to the switcheroo, but there is only one sound as they are single coils not stacks.
