Stan and I were exchanging PM's today, and he sent this over:
"BTW, Jack was rushed to the hospital last night and underwent surgury for a ruptured directicultis pouch in his colon. I spoke to his wif who said he probably won't be coherent until late tommoroow. Pretty serious, they are looking at Monday at the earliest for him to leave the hospital."
Diverticulosis is a condition where small, bulging pouches (diverticula) in appear in the digestive tracts, and diverticula can form anywhere (esophagus, stomach and small intestine) most occur in the large intestine, and because these pouches seldom cause any problems, you may never know you have them.
When one of these pouches becomes inflamed or infected, it can result in severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea, etc.. And when diverticula become infected, the condition is called diverticulitis. Mild cases of diverticulitis can be treated with rest, changes in your diet and antibiotics. But serious cases may require surgery to remove the diseased portion of your colon.
Personally, I absolutely appreciate everything Stan and Jack have done in establishing an official TAG Forum. And would like to express my heartfelt thoughts to Jack and his family for a speedy recovery.
So everyone, let's say a prayer and send some positive karma out to the Gretz's tonight and the days to come. Get well sir!! We miss you.
All the best,
mike.
in these past 22 years of business i have met many wonderful people, none finer than jack. i pray for a speedy recovery so he can get back to his family and full health.

Wow, I hope Jack is doing well. While I have never purchased a guitar from him, I have exchanged emails with him regarding guitars he had in stock and he was (and I'm sure still is) a gentleman. I have relatives and friends who have had diverticulitis and it's no fun. My sister inlaw had 18 inches of her colon removed and can no longer eat nuts or anything with seeds in it. My other friend had 14 inches removed last year. Both are doing well now thankfully.
Best wishes to Jack on a speedy recovery!

I've never bought a guitar from Jack but i have traded emails with him and he was always very gracious to me . It definately makes me want to get better acquainted with him in the future . We are lucky to have people like him around . I like his quote in his threads . Someting about doing what needs to be done when no one is looking . I've always admired people who do things and dont hang around to catch some reward or attention . Speaks volumes about the man in my estimation . Im sure we will cross paths eventually . Get well soon.

He will probably be home by the time a card would arrive at the hospital.
I will be talking to his wifr, and Jack (if possible) today. I will post an update on his health and contact info later today.
please do, and tell him we're all for him.

I can not begin to express my sincere THANKS to everyone at The ANDERSON FORUM,for your thoughts and prayers during this tough time I have been going through.
Not to bore you, but basically I had a ½” rupture of the large intestine. This leads to stomach contents to be released into your body that is basically “poison”.
When this occurs your body goes into septic shock, and if not treated quickly, can lead to death. According to the surgeon, who gave me the details this past Sunday- I was within 1 ½ hours of losing my life, as the poison had been spread through my body fairly quickly.
I was fortunate enough that one of my long life best friends, Bill A, who was the surgeon, to whom I called on his cell phone, came to the emergency room to see me. After just toughing my stomach he looked at me and said you’re going to surgery!!! – I asked him how could tell, he said count on it. One quick “CAT” scan and it was confirmed.
The other part is that a fellow whom I coach football with, is a drug rep Ralp B that sells medical tools to hospitals was assisting the surgeon today, and together they were working with some new tools for use in laparoscopic surgery.
I asked him to please assist in the surgery.
In a 4 hour surgery, My intestine was “glued” back together, All of the stomach cavity was washed and cleaned. And the best part- those new tools that Ralph brought it, lead me to NOT getting a “zipper” I do have 5 holes in my belly, which I’ll take any day.
I am moving around a little more every day, I am back to answering e-mail, and some folks are calling me at home for help. All of this is great and I am thrilled to do it again. I am hoping to be back full time by the end of the week. I am just going slow, taking a little more every day.
Thank You, Thank you Thank you, everyone, for caring so much about me and my family.

Welcome back Jack! Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery! Thanks for sharing!.
That laparoscopic surgery is amazing- my Dad and some friends had similar intestinal procedures and all they made were a couple of small incisions and recovery time was dramatically reduced :)
This is all a helpful reminder to schedule that physical and colonoscopy I keep putting off. I think the recomended age for routine colonoscopy is 50 but with all the junk I eat, probably should have started at 40
