This thread says it all. My dealer got the call from Tom last week. I wish Tom and the crew the best. Tom has always said he would quit when it stopped being fun, so I guess he was true to his word. With respect to the andersonalley blog, who knows what will happen to the prices of both used and the remaining TAG guitars on order. Personally, I wouldn't spend a whole lotta money on either especially since Tom will continue making guitars, just not at the volume we're used to seeing.

Wow, that is big news.

I remember speaking with Tom many years ago and he mentioned doing this.

What about the TAG shop and many talented people there?

Nothing that we should talk about on-line unfortunately. IMHO, we should wait for word from the good folks in Newbury Park, and let Tom & Co. make public what they need to, when and IF they decide the time's right. In the end, it may be nothing major at all. Mark/Pluto, shame on you for perpetuating rumor and speculation.

It's not really them, it's the dealers that are saying it. But you're right, we need to wait and hear it from TAG...

it's funny I was responding to the original post, with something like, "we ned to stay "mum", 'cause this is sooo uncertain." Then within like 3-4 minutes, the thread gets 4 posters, with the TGP thread.

So like I posted there, "for the record, this is not supposed to be general knowledge. However, Roy and tom probably anticipated that some dealer would let the cat outta the bag, especially given the speed at which unconfirmed rumors and misinformation spread across the internet. However, I know that Tom, Roy, et.al. do not frequent TheGearPage or any others for this reason. Official word is forthcoming from Newbury Park. As of today, it may be or may not be anything significant."

Heh, I'm known as the rumour monger. :D I doubt this is major-just wondering if I should buy Wildwood's anderson stock or not-damn, that's right, I have no money! BTW-check out the PRS Santana III-I forgot to tell you I played it yesterday AND ... it's a great guitar, until you talk me out of it. :D

Sorry if i started something but Anderson Alley obviously talked to Tom and decided to "put it out there" . I would think if Tom didnt want it out i would think he would have told the dealers . Just my guess . Im really glad i decided to buy and Anderson this year . I love it and it appears that another one may be out of grasp possibly . I dont think anyone means any harm here . We all obviously think the world of TAG .

Definitely, and I wish Tom and the whole crew the best no matter what happens. They're all high caliber, honest folks.

Barry, you're totally right...if Brian didn't want people speculate, he wouldn't have blogged it. Still......;)

Of that, I have no doubt.

My Blog was in direct response to TGP post, and all the emails to AndersonAlley about the post, that hit this morning.
The cat is certainly out of the bag, but I'd prefer that the word come from the guy's at the shop instead of a forum thread (TGP), not to mention someone blabbing all over the Philly guitar show about it.
Guess it's hard to keep such a big story down, but please wait for the official ruling.

I just now caught the TGP post and came here to find this thread.

All I can say is that I wish everyone at TAG the deepest thanks and continued happiness at whatever level they will be working on from now on.

Best of luck and a huge thank you to the entire TAG crew. You guys have built me so many incredible custom order guitars over the years. Somehow each one felt like a gift even though it was a fairly large purchase. Nothing but admiration here for all the talent at Tom Anderson Guitarworks.

I am definetly anxious to see what Tom has in the works. Nothing but admiration for him as well and I wish him the best in this new venture. I am certainly interested in remaining a loyal customer.

Now that the shock of this news has worn off I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Tom, Roy and all of the folks at TAG for the 4 best guitars I've ever played. You guys (and your guitars) are truly the best beyond anything words could express.

The act of ordering custom instruments from you guys brought me much laughter, knowledge and, most importantly, Tone...I can't imagine my music without your fine instruments, thanks!

Tom, I'm glad you are taking care of yourself and figuring out the best way to have a life full of love and fulfillment. I'm very interested to see where you Roy, Bruce and all of the others take yourselves in the coming years. People as talented and classy as you all are should have no trouble finding a place to be...keep us all posted...

Happy Playing to all...

I would seriously wait to hear from TAG before assuming that all the speculation is true. Tom making all the guitars himself could easily turn into "Tom wants to get more involved in the process", etc.

Interesting times ahead!!!

Brain...I just changed my mind an am not selling that HDTC after all. I'll send your check back. I'm sorry, man

Of course, I'm kidding. It's packed and ready.

I just read similar details on BAM and jumped right over here as well.

The guitars they build and the people they have working there are top notch and first class. Whatever the outcome, I'm proud to be associated with such a team. (Well...'associated' meaning buying their guitars and pestering them with questions over the phone...)

;)

The very best of luck to everyone involved.

Terry

Where ever this saga goes, I want to thank Tom Anderson and the whole TAG family for sparking my guitar playing. My first TA just thrilled me. My second TA took me to a new level of enjoyment. After 40+ years of playing the TA's made me feel like a kid again.

All the best to you in the future.

Thanks for the memories! Seriously, after going thru tons of shredder guitars it was my TA Classic that put an end to all my ibanez and musicman orders. That one TAG guitar raised the bar for anything else that I might consider. Hopefully I can get my DTC ordered...we'll see. Best of luck guys!

Due to the amount of misinformation already being passed from both Customers and Dealers who are apparently NOT in the know, I am going to lock this thread and I will delete any other threads relating to this announcement.

We should all allow Tom the respect to have him tell his story, to the public when he is good and ready to do it.
Lets all just step back for a moment and let him do things when it is right for it to be written.
