What is the sonic equivalent of the HW3A in non-Atom pickups? HN3?
HW3. the A suffix just means it has the atom style baseplate.

I got that part. I didn't realize that you had a new pickup then. How does it compare to the HN3?
it's more like the H3. i've not used that one myself, but when i compared the hw2 to the h2, i felt like it was softer in it;s attack, maybe more compressed. roy has a different take on it, but that has been my experience. i believe brian h has one in something, i'd check with him.

Brian H has a cherry burst atom in the for sale gallery with the H1 HW3
pu combination. Havent tried it in person but I ended up going with this same combination as I was looking for something different than the H1-A H2+A I observed on many atoms. My thought was to maintain a fatter, thick tone with a hollow atom so when Roy confirmed the HW3 as "focused and fat", figured I'd give it a try.

I wasn't very forthcoming with info. I have an HW3A that came with my newest Atom. I just popped it out for an H2+A.
Through my own personal playing and hearing Brian H play his similarly equipped Atom I decided to go with something less powerful in the bridge.
Decided to pop the HW3 in my HTC to see what would happen. I like it. More tone than the HN3 that was in there but equally hot.
Thanks!
