Wow. I just realized how lazy I've been with changing strings. Sure, the Cobra S I bought in Sept/Oct last year sits in the closet and has barely been played, but the new Cobra S I bought in November '05 still has it's original strings! Yeah, I bought extras, but I've never even changed 1 string on my Andersons yet. I've gigged it a little, including a 4 set corporate party where the new Cobra S was all I played. It's sitting in my studio, I practice with it frequently, and the Elixers still seem to have enough twang and are pretty clean. Maybe they go into self-clean mode at night, because I don't even wipe the strings down after playing. Wild.

Yeah, for some reason a lot of people say, "it's all hype," etc., but I've found Elixers to be really long lasting strings. For my money, they're worth the extra expense...

You haven't changed strings since November '05? Must not be humid where you live because even with Elixirs, I have to change them at least once a month if I play the guitar several times a week.

I used to change all string every week or 2. I actuallly live in Kingwood, TX (Houston), guitars stay mostly in AC'd studio, but just like tonight, I often take it out to my car then to practice. I'm amazed they're still good. Maybe my sweat isn't as agressive as it used to be. Even my D'Adarios seem to last a long time these days. I'm not complaining!

PS - Sorry to hear you've been down-graded and no longer are a planet. :o

My hands are super sweaty. So much so that Michaelomiya won't even let my hands come within 10 feet of his guitars. Add Hawaiian humidity (average is probably over 70%) and that's a bad combination for string longevity.

Snake oil strings last longer and sound, feel better than any string I have tried. Last much longer and keep their tone and feel in the process. I have never played the Elixers

I've tried the Snake Oils too, and really liked them. Great tone, but didn't last nearly as long as Elixers. Some strings last, but very few still sound good while lasting, like the Elixers do.

I'll have to try the Elixers, if they last longer than snake oils thats really saying something.

Yeah, the Snake Oils lasted a while for me too, but didn't sound as good toward the end as the Elixers do...and the Elixers last longer. Of course, YMMV.
