Has Anderson Guitars ever put vintage style pups (VA's or H1) in a hollow drop top? Mine has SA1R,SA1,H2+ and I notice in the gallery that this is a pretty common combination.
Any reason specifically why no vintage style pups in DT's? It must not sound so good or you guys would be doing it.
Any way, just a CRAZY passing thought (translated:please stop me b/4 I do something stupid to my guitar)
Thanks!
Bill
we have done it. hollow guitars in general have less middle, so when you put in a weaker pickup it can sound less full. for people who are really used to what to do with weaker pickups, it's a viable option. it's not my personal choice, but i tend to always look fatter rather than thinner. no snide comments please :o

Also, not to state the obivious, but I think most people who order drop top or hollow drop top guitars are looking for a super strat type guitar, hence people tend to order higher output pickups for them (whereas vintage style pickups would go more with a classic).

I'm actually the opposite. I had my DT w/ floyd's loaded w/ VA's and an HO1+'s in the bridge. You wanna hear the body wood through a plexi? THAT's the way to go :D

Really? I didn't know you had VAs in any of your Andersons. How the heck are you going to do Eddie with VAs? (BTW-did you go and look up any stuff on D'Pergo? Check out the gearpage, do a search, and you will laugh).

yuuup. and before we "nuke" yet another unsuspecting thread, I gotta say the VA's "quack" wonderfully!
on the issue of D'pergo, let's just say the H/S could be what results when you mate a Tyler w/ a Kramer Pacer.  'nuff said. Full on YUCK. And BTW, anyone (see - "bluesrevenge" in the link) trying to promote one builder at the expense of another (especially on an internet BB) s/b exposed for the fraud he is.

Now **THAT** was funny :) What a great thread! Mr. Blues Revenge got a butt whoopin' (that's the best way I can describe it without violating the posting rules here on the TAG Forum, but I think you can imagine what I'm thinking).
Edited to add: Whoops, thread hijack. Sorry. FWIW, I agree with Pluto about many people (excluding Mike) wanting the higher output pickups on their DTs.
Funny thing is that I've played a D'Pergo and they are the bomb! But yeah, low output pickups on a drop top or hollow drop top would be kind of weird to me. Different strokes I guess.

yeah right. If the headstock's any indication, that guitar's gonna be more popular than EVH's R/B/W strat.
