Finishing question -Tom?

Tom (or anyone),
I'm finally getting around to finishing one of the orphaned bodies you sold and I have a clear coat question. I have applied the stain and it's the color I like. I'm getting ready to do a clear coat on it, so here's the question:

Do I have to clear coat it? I like the feel right now because it feels like it's been Tung Oiled, but I want it to sound as good as possible. Do I just use a satin polyurethane instead of hi-gloss to retain the unfinished look? Same question for the neck as for the body...

if you stained it, you will need to put something on top or your favorite shirt will match the guitar soon.maybe that's not so bad. satin uethane would be ok for the body. i would be reluctant to put that on a neck as it is pretty soft and will probably feel gooey. i have seen some spray laquer in cans but have not used it.
