Within the next week, guitars with the possibility of a 06-06-06 would ship. I'm sure Tom passed for obvious reasons, but it sure would be a conversation piece.

I was going to ask Tom(via the forum) on Tuesday if the finished guitars that day would have the 06-06-06 serial number.
I would guess,no.

The actual date and the serial numbers finished that day are not the same per Tom.

I did not know that.
So,the guitars are numbered before they are completed?

I'm sure Tom will pipe up at some point, but my understanding was that it's not an exact science. For example, there are 3 guitars out there with 09-11-01, but they didn't build on that day. They need more dates than they actually work.

If you do the math it makes sense. TAG builds 800+ guitars a year. Even if they worked 5 days a week for 52 weeks a year that is only 780 guitars.

(52 x 5 = 260 build days x 3 guitar serial numbers per day = 780 guitars)

Now they don't work 52 weeks, or Mondays, so you can see that there are a bunch of serial numbers out there when the shop was dark.

Sorry if I'm bursting anyone's bubble here. It's just math.

There will be 3 guitars with those numbers but they will have an A, N, and P after the number... (am, noon and pm)... I built the P.

I've got a black Hollow Classic T with humbuckers that has a shot. Word on the street is that it will be in my hands next week.

yes, do the math. the date is asigned when the guitar is going together. as for three 6's, they're just numbers, no room for satan in my life.

But you have to admit, some twisted devil  will probably track these guitars down! Not me, of course, because the serial number doesn't make it sound better!

Jeeze..
Enough with the superstitious jibberish. :p

I really would'nt care if my guitar had a 06-06-06 or any other number on it as long as it plays like it should, I'd be happy.

I realized something the other day. That whole hype about 06-06-06 was about 2000 years late. The date is really 06-06-2006. The actual "date" that people would have had reason to worry about - not that I believe in superstition anyways - would have been June 6th, in the year 6 A.D.

I'm not even sure if the modern calendar was set in place at that point...??

Haha :D

I remember when the very first TA body that would have the production number "666" came into being. Being superstitious as I am I asked Tom if we should skip the number. To paraphrase our conversation that day Tom said it's just a number, and with God on our side there was nothing to be afraid of. Amen, Tom.
