If you have a T or Hollow T Classic with 2 single coil pickups, do you get a 5 way or 3 way switch? If a 5 way, what else is added? I would think you have 3 options, Neck, Neck + Bridge, or Bridge (like a Tele), right?

Is there a case where you would put a 5-way switch in a 2 pickup guitar?

if they are straight up single coils, you get a 3 way. if they are stacks, like td's, you get a 5 way so you can get the humcancelling and true single coil sounds.

if the pickups are true single coils and don't having any splitting or tapping options i don't know why you would. sometimes you see a 4-way switch which adds the pickups in series. but with a 5-way one position would have to either be dead or redundant.

I think some guys use a 5-way with the Ms (which are really mini-humbuckers) to get some combinations with the Ms split.

I'm rocking the 5-way on my HTC:

1. M1-
2. M1- split
3. M1- & TV3
4. M1- split & TV3
5. TV3

My 1990 HTC has Tk pu's.The 5 way switching is as follows:
Positions5: Bridge split
Position 4: Bridge series (hum-canceling)
Position 3: Bridge + Neck split
Position 2: Neck series
Position 1: Neck split
The 2nd and 4th positions(hum-canceling)are a bit lower in volume compared to the split positions but, very useful. The pu's are very quiet even in single coil(split)positions anyway.Hope this helps.

Just so we don't have too many people confused here... at Anderson, we refer to the #1 position as the neck side, and #5 position to the bridge side on a 5-way switch.
