Neck shapes & sizes

What are the standard neck shapes offered? Any place I can see a picture of cross sections for comparison?

When I see "+ 0.030" in the spec sheets, is that additional neck thickness?

Is there a way to get a neck with a nut width greater than 1 & 11/16?

on the front page of the forum i believe there is a neck shape note. yes, +.030" means +03" deeper. we do offer 1 3/4" nut width on long scale only.

I have a buddy with a Rosewood necked Hollow T (rosewood top on alder body.) his spec says TA standard neck shape but he claims it's different than a standard TA standard shape. Is that true? If it is, how is it different?

it should be the same. it is amazing how the color of a neck can trick the eye and hands. that being said, they are made of wood and do get sanded by hands, so they are not all exactly the same.

I have a HTC and a HDTC, and my brother has a HDTC too. All of these have TA standard neck with 11/16" at nut. The HDTC's necks feel the same, but my HTC's neck doesn't feel the same at all!! Everybody else who have tried these says the same as I do. The neck on my HTC feels smaller and more V-like than the HDTC's, althought all are TA standard.

Could it be that my HTC has the "shoulders down" option? I bought it used, and when I checked the specs at the Anderson website it didn't say anything about "shoulders down". But it's the best neck I've ever played on a tele! The necks on the HDTC's feels fatter, and suits them better I think.

Any comments?

The hardest part is not having an Anderson dealer nearby to try something out. I was able to finally try a +.030 neck out last week while travelling - Nice, very nice - highly recommend it.....1-5/8" with an +.030 would probably be nirvana for me............I see a Cobra in the near future !!

i know the older necks were a bit smaller and had a slight V feel to them. sometimes people who have those order a -.02 to get the same feel.
the +.03 is a nice thing, it's just enough bigger to notice, but not so much bigger so as to be bulky.

My HTC is a '99, while the HDTC's are '03 and '05... Maybe that's why the HTC feels smaller and more V-like?

it may not, as it just shows up as a comment on the build sheet. it is hardly ever asked for.

Tom, when did the TA Standard get a bit fatter? Somewhere between '99 and '03 I would guess..?
