Another thread about which Anderson can do it all got me thinking. For me, that guitar would have to have a humbucker in the bridge, but also a T. Face it, a split hum is not a T, is it? Which brings us to the Title...what makes a T pickup sound like that? Magnets? Windings? The slant? Some combo of all 3 I'm guessing. But still, I really don't know. Anyone?
the slant is the biggest contributor. it is different than the strat slant. you also left out the body shape. long ago i made 2 indentical guitars, same piece of body and neck wood, same bridge, same pickups in the same spots. the tele shaped guitar sounded more like a tele than the strat shaped one.

Ah, the shape. I'm a Tele shape man myself (albeit called a Cobra, Classic T, Pro Am T, Drop Top T...got one of each) so that was a given in my book...but not clear, so thanks. So then angling a humbucker, when split would sound more like a Tele than a Strat?
BTW, how was Waco? Dr. Pepper, Big Red and those Fightin' Baylor Bears (class of '88 here). Sic 'em!
angling humbuckers is dangerous. they lose a lot of middle, and to get one of the single coils in the right spot the humbucker would either be really close to the bridge or really far from the bridge. i don't think you'd be happy with either of those choices. 1 size just doesn't quite fit all in this case.
waco was a blast, heard lots of info about loops and beeps, got to hang with the crowder guys(there is not a nicer bunch on the planet), got to hear dcb lead at church and got to hear rob bell speak. quite an uplifting weekend. got to turn a few heads with the electric sound from the crowdster plus too. had tons of dr. p, never tried the big red(i was afraid), and had some good tex mex.

"good tex mex"
I would do just about anything for good tex mex here in Seattle. . .it doesn't exist here unless you manage to get yourself invited to a Mexican familiy's kid's confirmation on a ranch (which happened exactly once.) I was one happy fat boy.
