Neck and fret size questions

My TA Classic has a 1 11/16 nut and heavy frets. I'm wondering what the difference in feel and playing would be between the 1 11/16 and 1 5/8 nut. Also what would be the difference between heavy and medium frets.

with 1 5/8 you'll notice the strings being closer together down past the 7th fret. heavies and mediums are virtually the same height, but to me they feel less obtrusive when sliding my hand up the neck.
