Wooshing and Static from my Amp

I have a Rivera knucklehead that is making wierd noises. Each channel produces a huge amount of static/wooshing noises etc. Doesn't matter if the master is on zero. I recently replaced all but one of the preamp tubes and everything was fine. That was until last night.

I thought you 80's shredders liked the whoosing and the static?

I had a similar experience with my Ecstasy Classic. Replaced ALL of the tubes...bye bye static. Since it is on all of your channels, I would suspect that whatever tube they all have in common in the preamp might be the suspect. Or a power tube.

I'm getting a similar effect through mine...


Bought the head used, so there is no way for me to know how many hours were on that bad boy.


And at 180 watts, I've got to go into debt to replace all the bottles.



But I try to keep my complaining to a minimum... it'd be like complaining about having to put new tires on a Ferrari.
