I never realised that 1988 TAG's had actual Fender shaped headstocks like this one:

My 1990 T has a slightly more refined version ,which is actually an improvement on Fender's design. This itself then had to be redesigned.
To be honest my initial thoughts were...FAKE!However such a guitar is on the serial number database

Looks real to me. Those inlays are commonly found on older Anderson.

Looks legit to me but I thought Tom said he never made these headstocks except for parts guitars not production like these. I am intrested in purchasing if this thing is legit I am talking to the seller right now I just need to know if its legit and a production Anderson not a parts mutt.

Only Tom will have the answer! It can't be a parts guitar (in theory)as it is on the database.Just seems odd that the '89s I've seen don't have that headstock.
Don't think I'll be bidding as the guitar weighs too much for T.

my memory is usually better than this, but i don't remember that headstock on the guitar. we just didn't do that. but, i went back to the hand written log, and it says "a real one" in bretts handwriting and has the original owners name there. a real one could have meant lots of different things back then. almost everything was a rear rout and had a floyd, so ant guitar with a pickguard and a cut nut was abnormal. i can't remember the guy(i sure am getting older), and i'm not sure why i would have done what it appears i have done, but it's looks to be authentic.

Hey!Thanks for the info Tom.The plot thickens! The string spacer, lack of 'A' on the neckpate and 60's knobs threw me alittle, everything else though looked typically Anderson.
Maybe you should buy it Tom for the 'Anderson Museum' :)

Tom I am going to probably buy it from the seller he is supposed to call me, if you end up wanting to buy it later from me I would have no problem selling it to you, I love your early 88-90 made guitars and have the three bowling ball graphic guitars as well.

Good stuff!Out of curiosity, does anyone have a pic inside of a Tom Anderson neck pocket.Whats signed/stamped in there Tom?I've had several TAG's but have never had the need to check inside,as all have been brand new except for my '90.

long ago we used to rubber stamp the pocket witha big A. we stopped years ago. other than that the only thing there is the body/neck matching number. they start fresh every january. the maple necks will have the initials of the person that does the fret dress on the butt.

i have not been buying any of the old stuff back, you're welcome to keep it. i have a few older guitars saved that were never sold, or were ones i built for myself.

just noticed the price! that seems high unless you are thinking it will be worth a lot as a collector piece some day. if so i am honored.

I would rather have a one of a kind guitar.

I just bought it and should be getting it hopefully at the end of the week. I always wanted an Anderson with a real tele head and a real start headstock.
