Hi, new member and long-time Anderson fanatic (lunatic!) here.

I've had both the VA1, VA1R, VA12 setup and the VA12, VA12R, VA23 setup. I've also tried the VA1, VA1R, VA2 setup. AND I've tried the VA12, VA12R, VA3 setup. (I've had way too many guitars)

There were things I liked about them all and I'm wondering if a Classic can be ordered as such:

VA12 and VA12R in the neck and middle positions with the VA Booster switch controling ONLY these two pickups.

VA23 in the bridge and wired so that it's a VA2 all the time in the combo setting and a VA3 all the time in the bridge setting.

So, the first three positions would be either VA1 or VA2 for neck, neck/middle, or middle. The middle/bridge combo sound would be either VA1/VA2 or VA2/VA2 depending on how the VA booster is set. And the bridge alone would always be a VA3.

Did that make any sense?! Can it be done?

I really like the versatility of the VA Booster switching. I don't really like the VA3 as much in the combo position though. And I always preferred the VA3 for the bridge position. So I think this setup would eliminate some switch fiddling for me and still give me the versatility.

Thanks!:D

BFC,

If I understand your description properly the combo is a KILLER! This is the same setup I have on my HDTC. Very flexible!

The problem I have with the VA12, VA12R, VA23 setup was that the VA booster switched between two outputs on all three pickups. So, if I wanted the lower output VA1R/VA2 mid/bridge combo and then wanted to go to a hotter VA3 bridge sound I had to make two switches, one on the 5 way and then the mini-toggle. As far as the sounds I want I think this would be a little simpler.

BFC,

On my HDTC when I go to swict positon 5 (bridge) on the 5 way, the bridge pickup is full VA2 mode, irregardless of the mini toggle switch. I think this is the option you are after. If you like I can look at the hang tag for the guitar and tell you what this switching system is called.

I'm working on getting a quote from my dealer but I'm still trying to get the specs figured out. Mainly still debating on the '62 Roundback (1 5/8" nut) which I'm very familiar with or trying the 50's small V.

BFC,

The spec on the hangtag for my HDTC reads:

"5 Way, Mini Splits 1-4"

Hope this is of some help.

teh smaller v is amazing - so comfortable -

if you lik echunky necks go for teh 62 - its got lotsa meat

if you like a small perfectly formed neck thats not as skinny as a standard 1 5/8 smaller v is the bomb

I'm thinking maybe I'll stick with what I know. The '62 Roundback is a favorite. It's got to be the 1 5/8" nut width though. The 1 11/16" nut on the '62 RB is a little too much for me.

Thanks for the info!
