OK...so I ordered a Hollow Cobra but can't decide on a color combination. I like classic looks. (I originally ordered it with the Sage Green Metallic) but after seeing a Nearly Natural Amber Flame...I'm rethinking my color...
Nothing quilted, maybe flame but also would consider solid color. I am leaning toward a Gold Top...classic color. I like simple, if not understated thus leaning toward a painted top and light stained back.
What color would you pick for me? Front, Back, Back of Neck and Headstock. Winner gets a new set of Elixir's on me.
Roy, sorry it's taken so long for the color to get to you....hopefully by the end of the week.
oh grasshoper, this is a question only you can answer. dig deep into your inner child and the answer will be yours.

Orange Sparkle, although a Dakota red top with natural back and neck would look cool.
I agree with Tom.Only you can decide what you like.Having said that here is my choice.Honey burst maple top with binding, natural or carmel clear back and the same clear satin for the back of the neck.Oh,and matching headstock.I feel it is a very classy look.I will use this combo when I order my Atom.No matter what you choose the TAG team will make it look GREAT!

sage green metallic. First of all, because the color is sweet like honey (er... sweet like... sage... ) and second of all because you already chose it and now you're backtracking. Go with the gut.
My wife and I have been looking at samples of countertop colors for our kitchen remodel for, like, two straight weeks now. I'm so sick of color selections. I'm surprised I didn't have you order the Tom Anderson Corian Model with a "Willow" top, "Silt" back and sides, "Black Galaxy" headstock, and "Delta Sand" for the back of the neck. Then if we finish off the inside of the hardcase with a nice palette of neutral 1" glass tiles, it'll make the whole thing more livable and it won't conflict if the guitar is sitting on a bright couch.

I have three quilts and flames, including the wild looking NN red flame as pictured in my avatar and the link below. I also have plain tops.

I love them all. There is just no way around it.
So like Tom said only you can decide. Get what you REALLY want, especially if this is your first. Make sure it is all about you. I can tell you that I did that. Roy helped me spec a Nearly Natural Amber Cobra S and to this day if I had to use only one guitar forever it would be that one.

If you're into traditional, I think that a simple goldtop (or something like that sparkly gold dust) with natural binding on a reddish mahogany back and (satin finish) neck would be pretty classy. Don't match the headstock. Hey, wait! Don't do that! I want to order one like that! Dangit...

Well, I'm not shy to step up with an opinion. To me, the Cobra doesn't look right in a solid color. Flamed maple is so stunning, I wouldn't want to hide it. If you are looking for classic styling, I don't think you can go wrong with Desert Sunset or Dark Cherry burst on a trans red or dark brown back.
Case in point....

Gotta agree here. I think Sheer Gold (subtle as it is in its showing of the grain) a la this with natural binding on a trans red back would be super classy.
Should I send you my address now? :D

Now that is cool! You kind of get the best of both worlds with that finish!

Yeah, Bud and I were looking at this after an hour of searching the colors, combinations, etc. and settled on this Sheer Sparkly Gold thing...
You see, this is my first guitar without a pickguard and not having that contrast color freaks me out. Tried to get Roy to make me one...but he wouldn't do it.
Thanks to everyone for their ideas...and you're right it's all a 'personal' thing...and if you don't know who you are, how are you going to know what you would look like. :)
Maybe I'll just let Tom pick and whatever comes out is what I get.....
But then again...Sylvan's paint job sure is purty.
