I realized I was calling the pickups by their wrong model number so I'll try again..

Really like the neck sounds on this Hollow T Classic I just acquired & was wondering would it be totally ignorant to try it with a TV3 pickup in the bridge instead of the TD3...just for grins. I realize I'd probably lose hum cancelling in the combined position but that probably wouldn't bother me. This doesn't seem to be a popular combination though I was just wondering if it's a totally suck idea.

Not sure if this helps you, but in my HTC I have the TD3/TD0 set up. I just switched from a 5 way to a 3 way with no humcancelling, just the single coil. I love it. To me, there is no other way to get that spank so I got over the buzz.

If you have a 5 way switch, the 4th position should be the TD3 split, so you can get an idea of what a single coil would sound like.

Hi & thanks for the reply. I do have the 5 way...I was thinking all the way down is split(5th position)? It sounds good for sure, was just curious how different a dedicated single coil would be in there.

the 5th position is the split. you could put those 2 together. they do have a different character, but they could work. the combination with the split would humcancel.

Previous owner of my HTC must have rewired it as 5 was hum and 4 was single. Whatever, sounds like your on top of it.
