Splitting the M-series pickups?

Wondering if this can be done and how?
I recently got myself a T-Classic with 3 M-series pickups (M1 M1 TM2).
Would it be possible to wire in a toggle (like on my HDT) to split to coils on these pickups for more of a single-coil sound?

See my thread "New Andy" in The Cobra Pit. I've got a new HTC with 2 M's wired up with a 5 way. Position 2 is the M1- split, and yes, it is weaker and single coil-ier. Position 4 is that with the bridge TM2 full on. Sounds nasty. In a VERY good way.

it would be very thin and the pole piece alighnment would be questionable.

So maybe a small toggle installed on the control plate that would split neck and middle M's? Would I need to add the Vintage Voicing option at that point?

that would work. i have not added vv for mine and i don't think it would be required. the split m's have a pretty airy quality about them without vv.

you could, you only need a dpdt, we have ony tpdt, it's a bit larger.

I see Stew-Mac has mini toggles, DPDT, I assume the on/on version would be appropriate?
How would I wire it?

that's what you want. tie green and white together for each pickup separately. looking at the switch with the pins 2 accross and three down, put the green and white combos on the top 2 pins. tie the middle 2 pins together and tie them to ground.

is it possible to wire a three-position mini switch so that in the middle position nothing happens; in the down position only the bridge and middle PUs are split; and in the up position only the neck pickup is split?

if the mini switch is acting only as the splitter, yes that can be done. the pickups will still have to be turned on by the 5 way.
