Line 6 Variax Acoustic

Has anyone recorded with a Line 6 Variax Acoustic? In my home, it is virtually impossible to record acoustic guitar - two young boys. Although I prefer to use a small diaphragm condensor, I wonder if the Line 6 provides authentic acoustic tones to tape without the ping.

Any input, suggestions or reccomendations will be appreciated.
