having been laid up for a couple of days following knee surgery, i got to see a bit of tv (which i don't do much). anyway, i saw that gibson has a commercial playing in primetime featuring their lp. in a couple of hours it was played about 5 times. what is that about? next they'll be offering leases, tuning machine-to-strap peg maintenance for 5 years or 150 gigs, whichever comes first. just very weird to me.

There is also a Toyota or Honda ad that shows a gold top LP. The voice over comments that there is nothing better than a '57 Les Paul through the speakers. The amp is some Fender. Anyway, as the guitar lead is played, with a wah pedal, to my ears, the guitar sounds like a Strat. Hendrix licks and all.

i thought it was a sunburst lp, in '57? they should research their choices a bit better. don't they know all the guitar geeks are watching?

They also advertise in Business Week. I mean it is almost shameless how they are marginalizing the lower budget players.
