mixing pickups

anyone tried mixing va pickups with others - im considering trying a fralin blues in teh neck va1 middle and va2 bridge - any thoughts

im looking to get a beefier thicker neck pu sound but keep the middle and bridge on my alder classic that i like

thoughts?:D
