So i am looking to buy some rods/rod equivelents for the lower volume playing arena. some friends have mentioned using plastic blaststicks opposed to the wooden dowel sticks becuase they last longer, and you can hit the drum harder in order to get better tone out of it. wooden dowels tend to suck some serious tone out of the toms so i was wondering if anyone had any experience with the plastic rods. here is one link

it looks as though i could move the black rubberband up higher on the stick in order to keep the dowels closer to one another creating a thicker sound. if that black ruberband doesnt actually move i could easily creating my own movable option.

notice that these stick do not have a slider on them, but i could rig one.

anyone have some advice? Or does anyone want to slap me around and advice me as to why i would even look at plastic rods?
