Howdy Folks....
I am the proud new owner of beautiful translucent blue Hollow T. It was given to me as a 40th birthday present from my best friend. (Now that's a hell of a friend!) Kinda takes the edge of getting old a bit! :D
I have been a Tele player for years and an Anderson admirer for years. I absoloutely love everything about this guitar so far. My first gig with it will be in three days... (Wednesday Jan. 11th in Grapevine Texas if y'all would like to attend...) So I'll report back and I'm sure I will be overflowing with praise!
I just have to decide if I should play the Anderson through my Vibrolux or Rectoverb. Any suggestions?
Looking forward to learning much from everyone in the forum.

Welcome to the forum, Jon! That was one heck of a road trip to Austin, wasn't it? Best of luck at the gig tomorrow night. Wish I could be there, but you know that job thing is kinda getting in the way.

Ok folks, I offically have two gigs under my belt as an Anderson player (or attempted playing of said Anderson!)
The first gig was the gig from hell. Truck engine blew up on the way to the gig, had to get the band trailer towed to and from the gig, was "almost" late getting started.... so It wasn't the best night for exploring the nuances of a beautiful new instrument so I will skip ahead to the second gig...
It was a four hour gig at a rowdy Texas Bar B Q and Beer Joint. Did the first set acoustic like always there to appease the owner's concerns of the volume for the families in the non smoking dining room.
Then finally... time for the second set.... time to ROCK!
My first glorius rave about the Hollow T.... It darn near weighs less than my strap! So when you're back hurts from unloading the trailer because you get to be the roadie as well as the star of the show, well the lite-weight factor is a huge plus for me.
I played it through my Vibrolux with a Fulltone Fulldrive pedal. Beautiful tone. I play the bridge pickup mostly, but the neck and middle pickups sounded great for the blusier tunes. Next gig I plan on checking it out through my Rectoverb.
I found myself playing runs faster than I normally do facilitated by the speed of the neck. At this point I must confess something about my playing style... I have played Teles for years, and my delicate approach to the instrument can be likened somewhat to playing like a gorilla with his fingers sawed off at the first knuckle! Not exactly the precision technique that is I'm sure well suited for a quality instrument such as my Hollow T, but nonetheless I think the technique improvements that are certainly facilitated by the guitar will improve my attention to detail while playing.
Bottom line is I loved it.... It was like driving a Ferrari around a race track for the first time. A tad scary at first, but once settled in, the sky's the limit!
One of the best aspects of the gig was the fact that my dear friend that presented me with this awesome gift was able to show up and be apart of it all. He even humbled me by sitting in and doing a couple tunes with the band. He is a much more technical and capable player than I, so the Hollow T sounded great in his hands! He is a member of this forum... so I won't give away his identity. (So don't worry HiG!) (oops).
And also of note, my wife, whom is my biggest fan and my biggest critic all wrapped up into one, usually blasts me when I bring out a new guitar to a show because of my lack of "ease and comfort" while attempting to make music with an unfamiliar instrument. She had nothing negative to say -translated- It was a success!
Peace
Jon
