I've got a Japanese Strat (I think 1987 or so) that plays great, really great, but sounds just OK. I've left it stock since new, and have even done a few gigs with it, but would like to put an M1 in the neck, maybe even do an M1 in the middle and an M3 at the bridge as well.

The strat is routed out under the pickguard. What's the easiest (and cheapest) way for me to do this? Should I just use the current pickguard and cut the pickup spaces a little wider? I'm not looking for a great looking guitar, just for it to sound better, and I can solder and wire it up myself.

BTW - My brand new Cobra S Cajun Red Quilted with M1/M1/H2+ arrives today!

if it has the bathtub rout, you're probably good for room. since the m's aren't a size anybody else uses, you will either have to cut the holes yourself or have someone do it, i don't think anyone makes a pickguard that will drop in. the wiring is easy.

Thanks Tom. Then I'll just do it myself once I can get a pickup. I'll try with just the neck position first, and see how it blends (if at all) with my current pickups.
