I'm ordering a Powerblend, and I need a stereo instrument cable. What's your favorite?

Thanks, I'll try the one that comes with it first.

What I really want is one of these with TRS:

I use those. GREAT cables! TRS would be a custom order, but should be possible.

So they really do a good job of noise elimination?

planet wave trs, seems a little better to handle than powerblend stock. the poweblend stock feels a little too bulky.

They really do. Very transparent cable, very complimentary to the Anderson "Extended Bandwidth". They seem to do a great job of keeping RF isolated from the audio. The jacket feels great and lays very well.

Evidence Audio's Lyric HG is available as TRS. I didn't really believe that cables could sound different until I heard theirs compared to my old cables.

Doh! FYI, Musician's Friend is permanently out of PowerBlends. They cancelled my order.

What do you know what the technique is that they are using to kill the noise here? Are there other companies that make similar products?

Thanks!
Gary

It's called Transmission Line Theory. It's sort kinda like making an unbalanced line balanced... dual conductors for each pole, with a separate RF shield. The braided shield is connected to the connector's sleeve only at the amplifier end, helping to keep RF away from the audio signal.

gary, you might want to follow up on these (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=109302&highlight=fishman+powerblend+pedal) , both (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=108880&highlight=fishman+powerblend+pedal) on the gear page.

Is this technique unique to the Defender as far as guitar cables go? Everything that I read about the Evidence Lyric HG praises it more than I could imagine for a guitar cable. Is the Defender going to be quieter than the HG, or are they both in the same league?

I'm pretty sure that the Evidence uses the same dual-conductor and shielding method. Although, for a TRS cable I'd imagine that the dual-conductor thing goes out the window because you need the two conductors to carry the tip and ring signals.

TRS or not, the Lyric HG is the least noisy cable I have (haven't heard the Defender, though). What I really like is that the cable is designed to not be microphonic when running through high-gain amps. On a lot of my other cables, I can actually hear noise through my amp when I move the cable around.

You should shoot an email to Tony at Evidence Audio (tony AT evidenceaudio.com, I believe). He could give you all the tech details you'd possibly want - and them some. ;)

Thanks again Suriel. Looks like I'm going to get the second one that you mentioned.

Thanks!

I got a special order Lyric HG TRS. I had no idea that a cable could make this much of a difference! It's very very quiet too. There are definitely less highs and more lows with this cable, in a good way. My old cables (planet waves) sound very thin by comparison. This is one "musical" cable! I'll be getting more. They are expensive, but if you care enough to buy Anderson guitars, then it's probably worth it. :)
