I somehow lucked my way into a tubular top again!!!!

The Atom is feeling a little bit rejected, but not nearly as rejected as the strat (not pictured. . it's sulking in it's case right now.)

Ocean and Sand??? Hmmm, what's next. :)

Will put up some better ones after I take some shots in the sunlight (it's grey here in Seattle! :) )

VERY cool! Congratulations on that pair. Also, good job staying sane until Mr. Brown finally got your guitar to you. :)

awesome looking pair. Congrats. I am sure you will give the Atom some playing time in a few days.

Really cool but to me it looks like ocean and a cool sunset. Maybe you need a white or blonde T to go as the sand in betwen them.

Did the Atom come in the guitar shaped case?

(I'm sort of anal-retentive... ah, who am I kidding, I'm WAY anal-retentive... having mismatched cases causes me distress...).

Not that I have the funds for the Atom right now, but one day...

The Atom case is like the Atom. . . light and balanced.

The Atom really isn't as red as these pictures would lead you to believe. The Drop Top is closer to its real color.

The pictures in my sig for the Atom are closer to the true color.

True but if I were in the south pacific it would be close to a gorgeous sunset, Been there and seen them. The blonde would be just like the sand.

I think this calls for a field trip to the South Pacific!!! :)

I agree. . it does like quite like one of those sunsets. We don't see them up here in Seattle quite like that very much, so I forgot what they look like. :) (Used to live in the Cayman Islands. . quiet a difference!)

Gary, I just looked at the DT spec sheet and noticed you have jumbo SS frets installed. Notice much difference between the heavy and jumbo?
And you have two beauties there! ;)

The jumbos feel better to me since I touch the fretboard a little bit less. Makes bends and vibrato a bit easier/smoother. I've played on a scallopped neck most of my life, and I find the jumbos to be just right, which is a huge relief since I don't want to ever have to scallop or have a guitar scallopped every again.

I'm not sure if it's enough of a difference to make me want to send my Atom in to get refretted. .time will tell.

No, its very ugly, very ugly indeed. You better send it to the desert southwest where nobody will look at it. ;)

After some more playing, I'm wondering if the jumbo frets aren't a bigger deal than I thought before. I find the Drop Top to be effortless to play. . bends are easier than on the Atom and fretting notes is easier. This is not exactly and apples to apples comparison with the different scale length and slightly different neck geometry, but interesting nonetheless. Remember way back when when I first got my Atom and said that my playing improved two-fold? Well, it has happened again with this Drop Top. :) (It also helps that many years of rust is slowly washing away.)

Dave, we'll have to do the Pepsi Challenge on fret size between one of your Drop Tops and this one. If it is at it appears, I may have to get some jumbos on the Atom at some point. :)

Also, the Atom is back in full use after the initial newness of the Drop Top. The Atom has a focused midrange with the bridge H2 that is great for overdriven chord work that the Drop Top doesn't have. Whew! The guilt has passed. :) Also, the Atom still has the neck and bridge combo position which just kills. The neck-only M1 is pretty awesome too. I'd be curious to hear M's in an alder guitar again.

Very beautiful guitars you have there Gary. Your new DT is stunning. Looks like you and Valve Software better produce more Half-Life 2 content in order to fund you Anderson GAS. Hmm, Half-Life 2: Aftermath I'm sure can help with that. :D

I have the new Jumbo SS frets on one of my guitars and absolutely love them. I plan on sending my other Andersons back to Bruce within the next couple months in order to have them refretted with the Jumbos. From my observations, the Jumbos seem slightly taller and have a rounder shape than the Heavies. Tom advised that the specs on the Jumbos are: .110" w x .060" tall

I'm sure the Jumbos won't be for everyone. If you're use to bigger frets the Anderson Jumbos are perfect. :)

OK, after some more playing, the Atom is going to have to get jumbos next time I go down to Disney. :)

What's the procedure for scheduling a refret? Bug Bruce directly or Roy?

I'm going to have to decide if it needs to get a Bigsby at the same time. . probably not though.

All three are extremely nice!! That Cobra is pretty amazing looking. I bet it sounds great with neck and bridge on (from my Atom experience.) Hmmm, I might have to get a flame top at some point. :) I really like the traditional look of the T as well. Pretty amazing looking rosewood on both with it. I also like the "Old Flame" on the amp right behind the flame. :)
