I have seen some Anderson's with "medium" frets
(they were post spring '02 - after the change to heavy SS frets).

What does this mean, "medium"? Are they stainless
frets? Are they profiled like Dunlop 6105? Who can shed
some light on this?

Thanks for any help.

Mediums are stainless. They are the same height as a heavy fret but not as wide as a heavy. They are very comfortable to play. I believe they are a tad smaller than a 6105 fret

jack is correct, all frets after spring of '02 are stainless. if published dimensions are correct, they are the same as 6105 in height.

Mediums feel similar to 6105s that have been dressed down just a little. All of my recent Andersons have had the mediums. My favorite!

What about the low/light stainless? What are they equivalent to in Dunlop sizes? Thanks!

not sure what low/light means? our smalls are .080 wide and .046 tall. i have them on my newest atom, and am loving them. because the stainless is so slippery, i don't feel like bending is a burden.

Yeah, I meant smalls, thanks. I couldn't remember the terminology for the smallest frets. But that's exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks!

Are the smalls the same as on the Crowdster, because I LOVE them. I think I want frets like that on my electrics from now on.

My US Masters has mediums and I love those, too. I used to be a heavy fret guy... Oh well, people change.

all but a couple crowdsters have had small frets. saw crowder's crowdsters a few months ago and after 3 years of heavy touring the frets are in perfect condition. the guitars are beat, but the frets are great.

Cool.

Is he still using the same two guitars? That's a lot of mileage, but then again, they were built to last, weren't they.

Wow! That is impressive. I had a similar experience with a good friend of mine. Owns an older Cobra with P's. The original pre-2002 frets had been dressed three times, he used it so much. He had the factory put stainless frets on and has never needed a fret dress since. It is still his main guitar.

i was pretty amazed myself. i had a couple years on my first set of stainless, and they looked brand new, but i only play every other weekend. dcb does like 150-200 dates a year! they really did look perfect too.
