The postman just delivered my second TA. I've been waiting for it since Feb. It has gold hardware and Fishman powerbridge. Uhh, this is a good day :)

Best flamed maple top I've seen on a TAG. You are a lucky man (but I'm sure you already knew that). Enjoy!

Thanks! Yes I'm very pleased with the flamed top. I was considering going for a "personalized selection", but I couldn't afford it. I've spent too much this year on guitars and amps... So I'm glad it turned out this nice :)

Wow, I'm am seriously jealous! I want your guitar, but with a rosewood fretboard. :)

Is there a list of personalized selections somewhere?

Yngve,
Congrats! That is gorgeous - amazing flame. I'm from Norway myself, and have also been wondering about ordering a new Andy. I was a bit worried about the wait, but six or seven months isn't bad at all. This got me thinking... :)

Cheers, Bård

Which finish is that exactly? I'm going to have to keep that one in mind. :)

Cherry burst?

Ok now that is a classy guitar. I am usually not a fan of a burst, or the orang/yellow colors, but man with the gold knobs and everything....I would take it! Congrats!

Yes that's a cherry burst. I like maple fretboard, and I thought cherry burst on flame with gold hardware would look nice with maple. I'm not sure how the personalized selection works, but MesaBoogie Hollywood required a $300 upcharge, so I took my chances without the personalized selection.

Bard: Det er absolutt verdt å bestille fra USA. Denne gitaren kostet meg 19000,- pluss mva ny. Tror en slik som denne ville kostet godt over 40.000,- fra den gamle leverandøren.

Bard, I forgot to mention: I ordered this in Feb, but it was supposed to be delivered in June. But TA had to make a new neck because some trouble with a "mineral streak", and that took about 2 months. UPS and the Norwegian postal service BOTH had some trouble so that took about additonal 2 weeks. So actually the wait would be 3-4 months. But it's worth it :)

Gratulerer Yngve!!! fin gitar!

Nice guitar. I tought gold hardware was kind of 80`s, but I also love the gold hardware on my guitar, flamed mapel with honeyburst color

Dave, that's one beautiful guitar you have there! Is that a cherry burst? I think gold hardware on this particular color makes the guitar look more exclusive and adds more warmth to the overall look. Generally I'm not too fond of gold hardware.

That's it - I'm ordering!
No more late nights searching through online stores in the hunt for *it*. Might as well do it right and order one to my exact specs. As an added bonus, I'm sure I'll get a deeper connection with the guitar because of the process. This tread has convinced me - both the price and the delivery time were pleasant surprises. Thanks for the inspiration, Yngve! If you don't mind, I'll write you a mail tomorrow or Friday with a few questions about logistics.

With a bit of luck, Santa will have something very special for me this year... :D

Now what I need is to replace the SA1's with VA12, but I'm also considering to order a new pickguard with VA12/VA12/VA23. Does anybody know the price for a new pearl pickguard with VA12/VA12/VA23 installed and gold hardware? Can I order from Anderson directly or do I need to order through a dealer?

tom

I'm considering buying a used set of VA1/VA1R/VA12 from one of the forum members here. But I wonder: Are the VA's different in neck, middle and bridge position, or are they all the same (except reverse wound)? I'm probably going to use VA's together with the H2+ in the bridge so I need a VA1R at neck and VA1 in the middle. Is it then possible to just put the VA1R at neck and VA1 in the middle, or do they come in different neck, middle and bridge versions?

Tom, do you have the price for a complete assembly?

tom
02-02-2006, 11:15 AM
i think the assembly is $375, but i'll have to check when others get here. jesse is out with kidney stone surgery and rach is out with double knee surgery, so i'm runnin around like a madman, or maybe idiot.
the va1 is the same for neck or middle, the R is reverse wound.

So I got the new pickguard. I installed a set of Fralin Blues Special, and to my big surprise, the unplugged sound of the guitar is actually a bit different. I never thought I would notice, but I guess that's because the guitar is quite a bit lighter now (the stacked SC's and humbucker are heavy) and maybe the magnets work differently on the strings..? The guitar sounds "spankier and lighter". Maybe it's because the lighter weight make me pick different. Anyway, here's the new look:

You are probably getting more string pull from the Fralins, which I would think would make it sound more like an old strat even unplugged.

You should slap a Suhr backplate on there to complete the transformation. :)
