that's a good article. unfortunately that's what happens when a natural resource gets worth tons of money.

People do anything for money.

Here in spain, two months ago, the police caught a lot of protected wood (to make guitars) from Brasil I think.

These "people" :mad: have no scrupples.

it's interesting to me that since brazilian rosewood has been "protected", we're seeing more of it than ever, at very high prices of course.

i was told by a luthier that builds classical guitars, is that the "brazilian rosewood" tree is being grown outside the brazilian amazon. unfortunately, despite it being the exact specie as grown in brazil the properties are not the same. they are inferior in quality. that is a possible reason why so much brazilian rosewood is being seen in the market.

sadly i believe it is that if something is worth enough, people will find a way to smuggle it out.
