WOW... that's very cool!

Can you imagine how much faster he'd be with an Anderson ;)

I like the last move. It just proves all these young ones are just little snot noses. Really it makes you want to sell your stuff. The kid is great.

He must be studying with Paul Gilbert or one of PG's disciples because everything he played was note-for-note Gilbert. The phrasing was an uncanny mimic of Gilbert's, as well. Getting those chops and developing a strong sense of meter at that young age (I'll guess 11 or 12, not 8) will give him a strong start for developing musical concepts later on. Hopefully he doesn't get bored with it and keeps playing.

I'm glad others caught that great move by the protege. They also have to figure out what to do with the bass player while this guy is shredding away: he looked dumbfounded and dumb at the same time. ;)

Okay, who's with me to pummel the little snot? ;)

I just showed this clip to my 12 year old son...now he's grabbed his guitar and started practicing.

In all seriousness, what do you say when someone does this?

Yes but does he know his analytical geometry and can he read Beowulf in the old English? Huh? Things he will really need when he grows up?

That's some crazy playing. He played Paul Gilbert's "Frenzy" note for note. I hope this kid keeps it up. I'm sure by next year he'll get tired of the rock thing and move onto some Holdsworth style legato and phrasing. :D
