Just about to pull the trigger on a new Pro Am. Qestions about setups, going to build someting for fun, a rocker. Basswood body and maple neck for sure, floyd rose, of course. But pickups could go the HO - H2 combo, but really thinking different an H2+ M1 with a M2 in the neck. What do you think.

Hi Brian,

Oh, Pro Ams are fun—no question about that—nothing quite like them.

M2 in the neck is probably not a good idea as its string spacing is for the bridge position and by the time you get something like an M2 into the neck we are talking about the output of a full-sized humbucker anyway so I suggest H-something for neck application in this particular situation. M1 in the middle would be cool.

Happy Playing

I disagree, and to prove my point we I've convinced Brian B. to order a Pro Am with four M-2's across the board (and a gold Floyd). It's gonna sound killer.

Roy (Maybe),

On average, how many Pro Ams get made in a year? I hardly ever see them anywhere.

Jim,

I think I am going to have to beg for your silence on this one. Pro Ams are wonderful, all-business guitars that are considered by many as not having the visual flash of their Drop Top cousins. I think to do it right we need to unveil this understated Pro Am together—maybe in a week or so.

Are you with me Big Jim?

Does this mean a Pro Am is a future GOTW?

I think if there are only a couple built a year they should all be GOTW's :D

Whenever I need a good chuckle I visit here, I'm never dissapointed. :) Could I have a Key Lime Tigereye burst in balsa with a maple neck and matching headstock and seven SD2+'s.........and vintage whammy?

Wrong album. Try 'Stargazer' or 'A Light in the Black', maybe 'Tarot Woman'. A truly evil classic album. Tony Carey and Cozy Powell at their finest.
Isn't 'Man on a Silver Mountain' a beer comerical???
