I was wondering what the differences are between these three pickups. Do they just get hotter as you go from 1 to 2 to 3? Or are there other tonal differences?

I was wondering because I read in another thread that Tom said that the M2 will get more of a Les Paul sound in the neck of an Atom than the M1. Why is that?
The M1 sounds like a fat single coil. The M2 sounds fatter yet and borders on vintage humbucker. The M3 is getting even closer to full size humbucker territory with a healthy output but still sounds in the M family.
the m2 and m3 are a wider spacing as well.

Do you mean that the pole pieces are further apart or the two mini coils are further apart?
yes. the two bobbins are slightly wider spaced, and the pole pieces are a wider string spacing which also means the whole pickup is longer.
