I currently am a proud owner of a DT with a H2+ bridge p/u. Lately I've had a lot of thoughts about Cobra's.
My question is that of p/u combinations and what works best. The style of music I like is that with a little heavier distortion (with bite and character). There is currently a cobra on ebay I'm thinking about bidding on.
Cobra on EBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=7312754324&rd=1#ebayphotohosting)

While liking my distortion... I still need the light crisp clear / transparent clean mixed with light distortion (Fulltone FDII). Will the p/u and wood combination with these p/u selections be a good choice?

Thanks
Chad

H2+/H1- is a combo you see a lot of, as Tom says. Personally, even though I play through Bogners, after numerous experiments, I ended up with H3 and H1+. The H3 just grabs a chord and let's it growl. I grew up listening to 80's pop and rock, so I like the fluid neck solo tone (i.e. Schon) with delay and some chorus. The H1+ is a bit strong for most, but not for me.

If you dig this Cobra's looks, swapping out pickups is easy to do and part of the fun. You'll probably find a bunch of guys like me on this Forum that have a box of Anderson pickups that they'd let go cheap.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the input. I did not realize that some forum members had extra pickups available (possibly).

Should I be looking into the Atoms instead of the Cobra? Or is the Cobra a great staple item?

My Cobra is a favorite, and the H1- and H2+ with a five way switch yield plenty of tonal variety. Both pickups split very well, in particular the H1- in the neck, which yields some great single coil tones. From clean to death chunk,it handles it all. ;)
