Japanese Maple

I'm moving to Temecula soon and the house I'm at now has a Japanese maple tree. I've got permission to cut it down and keep the wood. The trunk is about 6 to 7 inches in diameter and there are two branches about 4 inches in diameter. Is this species of maple worth klin drying and using for a guitar neck or is it worthless? It's not birdseyed or figued as far as I can tell. The tree is about thirty years plus and is very heavy. At least the branch we trimmed was very heavy and was tough going for the chain saw.

that's not really a big enough diameter. you really need atleast 5" outside the heart wood. that would make a 12" or so diameter.
