My first Anderson was a Grandam Lam from 09-06-90, which was a great guitar for me and was my main axe for the 15 years I had it. I loved the hell out of it, but I wasn't using the Kahler trem at all, and it seemed a waste to use the guitar as if it had a fixed bridge. So I was interested in upgrading it and in seeing what the newer Andersons are like. I was lucky that a forum member was interested in an older andy with the same configuration mine had and he bought it (thanks Justin!), which in turn allowed me to upgrade to 06-13-02A, shown below, which most of you have seen here before. (Thanks Jon! Nice meeting you, and thanks for a great transaction.)
I must say that as hard as it is for me to believe, these guitars have gotten so much better. The playability of this guitar is sick, it's just so smooth. Very much a "plays itself" kinda feel. I'm still shaking my head when I play vibrato with the left hand, it's just such a smooth motion. The sustain is stellar. The feel of the guitar's body is a lot more natural both against my body, and on the top of the guitar where my right forearm rests. I'm also impressed with the resonance and sound of the guitar. This could be the difference in the HDT and the solid grandam I had, but this thing really rings out so clearly with itself and through the amp. I'm playing it through garbage amps and haven't even found sounds I'd use all the time, but I'm already shocked by how clear the guitar rings out. And I think the Fishman bridge is a really nice thing on this guitar too. Gotta get my hands on a Carr Rambler or some other nice amp to play this through. I'm embarrassed to even mention the amps I'm using right now.
Anyway, just wanted to give props to Tom and all the people over there in Newbury Park for continuing to grow in all the right directions. I'm sure there were ample opportunities (and temptations) to cut corners here and there, but as far as I can tell you didn't take any of them. Can't wait for my Koa HDT in June!
Cheers!
Dave

My cat has an uncanny way of getting his reflection to show in images of my guitars:

Edit - I said Kendall Park, instead of Newbury Park. (Been back on the east coast too long. ;) )
